Climate Data Workshop
By working on projects, students will learn to evaluate climate data, identify appropriate data and methods for your application, work with many commonly used data products, and learn some basic R programming.
Strange and Dangerous Weather
Strange and Dangerous Weather explores the science behind multiple kinds of severe weather including heat and cold waves, blizzards, tropical storms, droughts, flooding, thunderstorms, and mid-latitude storms. Extreme weather is not always dangerous weather, however, so the class also investigates weather’s health and safety impacts in the context of place and time and analyzes different ways of communicating about severe weather and its societal threats.
Climatology investigates the physical controls on the world’s climates and how they produce geographically distinct climates.
Understanding climate explores the basics of the earth's climate systems and ties climate to local weather observations.
